During Sunday afternoon's game in Chicago, Browns running back Jamal Lewis continued his ascent up the NFL's all-time rushing list by passing two well-known players.
On the Browns' first offensive series of the second half, the first three plays went to Lewis. The 10th year running back posted runs of 13, 6 and 12 yards, respectively.
With his 12-yard burst, Lewis passed Eddie George for 22nd on the all-time list. George compiled 10,441 yards during his 9-year career with the Oilers, Titans and Cowboys.
Lewis' efforts led to Derek Anderson's second 1-yard touchdown run of the season.
Two possessions later, Lewis took Joshua Cribbs' handoff out of the wildcat formation and motored ahead for a gain of 6 yards. With that run against the Bears, Lewis passed former Giants running back Tiki Barber for 21st in NFL history.
Lewis gained 69 yards on 16 carries. Lewis enters the bye week with 10,456 career rushing yards on 2,497 carries and will take on his former team, the Ravens, on Monday Night Football November 16th.
Lewis is 187 rush yards away tying Ricky Watters for 20th on the NFL rushing list.
